Quality of life survey
Take turns asking your partner the questions below. Note down their answers, then add your own.
1
Have you learnt or done something interesting in the last few days?
2
Is the government doing enough to protect the environment?
3
Are you happy or unhappy with your job? How could it be better?
4
Do you have faith in the media here? Why?/Why not?
5
How do you feel the leader of your country is doing?
6
Are there any countries nearby where you think life is better/worse?
7
How happy are you with the roads and the public transport where you live?
8
Is the city/town where you live getting better or worse as a place to live? Why?
9
How happy are you with healthcare in your country?
10
Do you feel you have enough holidays/free time?
11
Can people in your country improve their lives by working hard?
2 During the survey
Interrupt politely
If you want to add something, ask a follow-up question, or you don't quite agree — jump in politely rather than waiting for your partner to finish completely.
Useful phrases:
Sorry to interrupt, but… Can I just say…? Sorry, can I just ask…? Hang on, what do you mean by…? Actually, can I add something?
💡
Tip
A short, polite phrase before you speak makes interrupting feel natural rather than rude — try to use at least one during the survey.
