Things I Like! — Jim Robertson

Jim Robertson lives in Inverness in the north of Scotland, but he cycles all around the world. Last year he rode his bike 4,000 miles around the UK. He tells us why he loves cycling.

1 I started cycling in 2005 because I got a new job and started cycling to work. My office wasn't near my house and the bus was expensive, so I decided to cycle. At first it was difficult because I didn't do a lot of exercise and I wasn't fast. But I started to enjoy cycling to work and I started cycling at the weekend, too. Then, one summer, I took my bike on holiday and cycled from the north to the south of Italy. It was a really good holiday and I loved cycling anywhere I wanted to go.

2 I love travelling and visiting new places. You can go places by bike that you can't visit by car or train. It's a cheap, clean and healthy type of transport. It's also quick. My cycle to work takes 20 minutes and the bus takes 30. I can stay in bed for an extra ten minutes each morning!
